Life at Kirk House
Introduction to Life at Kirk House
Life at Kirk House is all about ensuring each resident feels cared for, comfortable and content in how they spend their time, either by themselves in their room or any of the shared spaces. We place value on every interaction, whether that be a social opportunity with other residents, or their regular interactions with the staff team and volunteers.
Your Flatlet
Flatlets, which are laid out in wings of ten, are your space to personalize as you want. Each flatlet has a kitchenette and ensuite

What happens when you first arrive?
When you arrive, you will be met by a Team Leader who will welcome you and your family and/or loved ones. We usually start with a cup of tea or coffee so we can sit and relax to explain the plan for the day.
Once you have been shown your room, a member of the Care Team will come and support you through the rest of the admission process.
All Kirk House staff will come and say hello so you can get to know them, and they you, and they will take time to show you around the building so you can get your bearings.
You will also be provided with a copy of the Resident’s Guide which explains the day to day running of Kirk House and should answer any further questions you may have.
Dining & Food
A choice of menu is available, and the Chef/Cook
will discuss your likes and dislikes with you. Special
dietary needs will be catered for and residents are
involved in the planning of menus.
All meals will be served in the Dining Room, and tea and coffee are available between meal-times, either via your kitchenette facilities in your room, or at set times within your wing.
Chaplaincy
Kirk House hosts short Christian services and acts of reflection in our common room, which take place on a regular basis. Everyone is welcome to attend these.
Your own minister, pastoral visitor or other spiritual advisor is very welcome to visit you in Kirk House and, if you would like, we would encourage you to attend your own place of worship where that is possible. If you wish, staff will liaise with your own, or local places of worship to see how this can be facilitated.
We equally support those who do not adhere to any religious beliefs, and our chaplains are available to all simply as a listening ear and a safe sharing space.
