Care at Kirk House

Introduction to our model of care

Offering 24-hour dementia and residential care, Kirk House promotes a person-centred approach, influenced by a ‘household’ model.

Person-Centred Approach

Our care is tailored to meet the needs of every individual, upholding safety, security, dignity and respect for their needs and preferences.

Promoting Independence

Residents are encouraged to be active and self- reliant for as long as possible. This approach is vital to maintaining independence and cognition.

Family Connections

We work closely with family and key contacts to ensure that dialogue-driven standards are maintained when approaching your care

Dementia Awareness

Our staff are DSDC best practice trained (see below) and our own programme to best support our residents living with the condition.

Resident Involvement

Our resident programme is built through reflection and consultation with residents, and we actively listen to our residents as a priority.

Quality Assurance

We build our service around resident and family feedback. This is processed impartially and is an important element of our RQIA quality review.

Care

Residential Care

Residential care is a great option for those who wish to retain their independence but may require some level of support.

Kirk House offers quality accommodation where residents can live independently, but with the reassurance that assistance is on-site at all times, should they require it.

Our communal spaces offer residents the opportunity to mix socially with other residents, should they choose to do so.  Whether it’s a cuppa with friends or developing a new skill as part of the activities programme, or settling down with a good book or a game of chess.

Care

Dementia Care

BCM has a proven track record of excellence in dementia care, both at Kirk House and in the new award-winning Copelands home.

Memory Lane is the residential-dementia household at Kirk House and it pioneered our tried and tested approach using the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Design Centre (DSDC) Design Audit Tool, which incorporates current research.

The staff team all complete the DSDC ‘Best Practice in Dementia Care’ development programme. This is a significant course of study over a six-month period.

The staff are committed to providing a true ‘home’ for the residents and the flexible approach to the day enables a true person-centred approach to be adopted.
